SocialBarrel.com – March 11, 2016 – YouTube Gaming app is rapidly expanding. And it just took another step forward. Google announced that the live-broadcast of Android gaming titles would soon be available directly to the site.
The announcement was made at the Tokyo Games Show. Unfortunately, the company didn’t say about the exact date of the function’s release. However, it revealed that it’d be coming soon.
What is YouTube Gaming app?
It works like Twitch. YouTube Gaming app showcases gaming content of YouTube. It’s a mobile app and a website designed. Twitch, on the other hand, is a live-streaming owned by amazon.com. It focuses on video gaming.
Japanese version
The company also announced that the app will have a dedicated Japanese version and it is coming to, both iOS and Android. Although it won’t affect all viewers in the world, it’s a wise move to tap into the mobile gaming markets. Viewers outside Japan can also explore games that are only made in Japan.
YouTube acknowledged the mobile games in Japan. For the company, Japan’s mobile games have a unique gaming culture. This uniqueness makes YouTube realize that there’s a growing need for gamers to share, as it happens, the things that they see on their screen with the community.
The primary Gaming site was launched in August of last year. It has a slick interface and it came with plenty of content. The number of content wasn’t surprising considering the volume of gaming channels already present on YouTube.
Even though the app is available globally, the launching of the app in Japan is the first region-specific release.
Can it beat Twitch?
The app may be going in the right direction. However, it still has a long way ahead to beat Twitch, which is said to be a reigning champion of game streaming race. Recently, it has recorded two million simultaneous viewers.
It may, however, have the potential to beat Twitch. Thanks to the release of Android streaming. It may offer the app a significant boost.
The Twitch-like hub isn’t only expanding in Japan but it’s also going to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. YouTube also announced that there will be sets of small design tweaks that will be available to its web version.
With the tweaks, you won’t be seeing the sidebar on the homepage. But a new Live tab and some new pages have been added.
YouTube Gaming mobile app isn’t a big deal for some. But smartphone game streaming is a great platform for YouTube to capitalize. The integration with Android has an advantage over Twitch. On Twitch, users have to use its mobile SDK to use live streaming.
In the past, Twitch urged that Android players must use a Sony-made capture app. However, the Gaming version can work without any extra effort from users.
By putting a significant focus on the live-streaming games, YoutTube is clear about its intention. It’s going after Twitch.
